Dogplant

Produced in 1988 as part

of Channel 4 Television’s Four Minutes series, this was my first professionally-made movie, written and directed by yours truly, shot over two days in the U.K. countryside using 16mm film and edited by Xavier Russell, son of movie director Ken Russell.

During editing, Xav’s dad stopped by the cutting room, peered at what we were doing and pronounced it ‘shocking.’ He was reacting to something created for this film by creature effects maestro Nigel Booth. Nigel went uncredited on screen, due to the film’s brief running time, so I can finally say ‘thanks’ here. At least I named the dog after him.
